I am sending this email in response to your enquiry into Community Nursing, I work as a Team Leader in Meirionnydd where restructure of the Teams are currently being carried out and this is definitely for the best in view of the District Nursing Principles. We work in a large rural area where a lot of our time is spent on travelling.
Unfortunately with our current caseload and complexities it is very difficult for us to manage our work within the allocated time this creates time owing and then it is difficult for the staff to have the time back. but with the current changes I feel that we do have adequate staffing levels.
Unfortunately we do not have any administrative support and I find that I have to do a lot of this especially when preparing for our weekly Community Resource Team Meeting.
We do not have any hand held device there is currently a pilot being carried on WCCIS, but apparently these have a long way to come before what is required for us to mange our work, we are working on a very old system of a workload tool to manage work allocation, having worked in central area of Betsi Cadwalader we had the Myrddin system which was much better why is this not in the WEST? When I moved to the West from Central it was like going back in time I have asked several times why they don't have Myrddin apparently it is down to finance? But it would make our work much easier in the management of our caseloads than what we are doing now, could this be looked at? at your level? and in my opinion this would make our work easier.
